“Inter-Regional Connections during the Late Bronze Age as Reflected through the Animal Economy: Azekah- A Case Study”

I will be undertaking the faunal analysis of the renewed excavations of Tel Azekah. My assemblage specifically dates to the Late Bronze Age (LBA) from areas: S2, T2, and W2.

The research upon the LBA faunal remains is critical in that it will facilitate in determining the dietary habits and identities of the residents of Azekah. It will further augment the ability to recognize the possibility and presence of a social hierarchy, ascertain the animals utilized within this framework, determine the form of subsistence strategy undertaken and to determine the social and political standing of Azekah during the LBA.
