The Cypriot Import Assemblage from Late Bronze Tel Azekah: Chronological, Typological, and Inter-Regional Implications

Advisors: Prof. Oded Lipschits, Prof. Assaf Yasur-Landau and Dr. Yuval Gadot.

Sherds of Cypriot imported pottery from the Late Bronze Age are present in all of the excavated areas at Tel Azekah. By identifying the common typological forms present within the assemblage, one will be able to reconstruct not only a chronological framework for the site’s occupation, but also understand some of the relationships that Tel Azekah maintained with other key sites in the Levant and the rest of the Aegean. The aim of this MA thesis is to identify potential trade routes and relationships associated with the dispersal of Cypriot pottery within the Levant, and to understand where Tel Azekah fits into this trade during the Late Bronze Age.
